If you’re looking for a great new Acer laptop, you may have noticed that the company has a lot of different goods. One of them is the newly added Swift X 14 (2023), a 14-inch laptop that is both portable and powerful. It has a 120Hz OLED screen and RTX 4050 graphics for editing videos. The Nitro 16 is a powerful game laptop with a great 16-inch screen and a fast refresh rate of 165Hz. We can tell you how these devices differ if you want to know.

Price, Features, and Availability

You can now buy both the Acer Swift X 14 (2023) and the Acer Nitro 16 (2023). Both can be bought from Acer.com and other stores. The cheaper model is the Acer Swift X 14 (2023). Starting price is $1,100. This model comes with an Intel Core i5-13500H CPU, RTX 3050 graphics, the usual 2560×1600 resolution IPS display, 16GB RAM, and a 512GB SSD.

The price is a bit higher for the Acer Nitro 16 (2023). Starting price is $1,200. This will get you a model with an Intel Core i5-13500H processor, RTX 4050 graphics, a 2560×1600 display with a frame rate of 165 Hz, 8GB RAM, and a 512GB SSD.

Design

Even though both the Acer Swift X 14 and the Acer Nitro 16 are clamshell computers, they have very different looks. Both are made of aluminum, but the Swift X is more of a work laptop, so it is thinner and has flat edges and a simple design. The Acer Nitro 16 is a gaming laptop, so it has more features like angled and pointy ends and is heavier.

Acer Swift X 14 (2023) vs Nitro 16 (2023)

This means that the Acer Swift X 14 is easier to carry around. It is 12.71 inches long, has a diameter of 0.7 inches, and weighs 3.41 pounds. The Acer Nitro 16 is a lot bigger and heavy. It is 14.2 inches long and has a diameter of 1.02 inches. It weighs 6.17 pounds.

But when it comes to ports, these computers are pretty much the same. The Nitro 16 has an extra USB Type-A port and an RJ45 Ethernet jack. Both systems have Thunderbolt 4 ports, HDMI ports, and USB Type-A ports. If you buy either of these computers, you probably won’t need a dongle. You can even add more storage space with microSD card readers, which are on both computers.

The keyboard and trackpad are the last things to think about when thinking about how these computers are made. Since the Acer Nitro 16 is a game laptop, it has an RGB keyboard with cool lighting effects. This is not on the Acer Swift X 14, which has a normal white LED backlit keyboard instead.

Display

When you choose this show, there is something you should keep in mind. Do you want a bigger screen and a faster frame rate on the Acer Swift X 14? Or, with the Acer Nitro 16, do you want a laptop with a more accurate color screen?

The screen on the Acer Swift X is smaller than the screen on the Acer Nitro 16, but it has better display technology. Stock models have an IPS screen with a resolution of 2560×1600, but you can also buy an OLED model with a better resolution of 2880×1800. It’s a 14-inch screen with a clear image and a refresh rate of 120Hz.

The OLED screen shows colors more accurately than an IPS screen would. You get darker blacks and more contrast, which makes the picture look more real. Acer says that this screen has 100% DCI-P3 color gamut coverage, a contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1, and a high brightness of 500 nits. When editing videos, the 120Hz refresh rate makes it easier to scroll through loops.

Acer Swift X 14 (2023) vs Nitro 16 (2023)

On the other hand, the Acer Nitro 16 has a much larger 16-inch display, though there is also a 16-inch model of the Acer Swift X. The display panel on the Nitro 16 has the same 2560×1600 resolution as the display panel on the Swift X, but it refreshes faster at 165Hz.

This laptop is better for games because it has a faster refresh rate. This means that the screen will refresh more quickly, which will reduce blue and make the picture feel smoother and sharper.

Performance

Both of these laptops have the same CPUs and parts, so they should be fast enough for any job you need to do. You shouldn’t expect a big change in how well they work. After all, the 13th-generation Intel Core i5-13500H CPU is a choice for both machines. The only difference that might affect your buying choice is that the Nitro 16 comes standard with a better RTX 4050 GPU and a 140W TGP.

On the Acer Swift X 14, the RTX 4050 costs an extra $400, and it doesn’t run nearly as fast and is limited to 50W TGP because of thermals.

Also, the most expensive version of the Acer Swift X has an Intel Core i7-13700H CPU. The CPU has 14 cores and 20 threads, and its turbo boost speeds can reach 5GHz. On the low end, the basic model with an Intel Core i5-13500H has 12 cores, 16 threads, and a turbo boost of 4.7 GHz.

The Acer Nitro 16 also has the same processor. This 45W H-series CPU is plenty fast and works well. Below, you can see how well the tablet works. We took the CPU from an MSI Prestige laptop and put it in the tablet.

This CPU is great for tests that need a lot of raw power. On tests like Geekbench and Cinebench, multicore scores are good. With a score of 12,570 on Gekbench 6 multicore and 13,093 on Cinebench for an H-series device. And if you look at a device like the XPS 17 with an H-series CPU and GPU, you get great scores on 3D Mark that are well above 6,000. This shows that you won’t have any problems gaming, making videos, editing, or doing anything else.

The better choice is the Acer Nitro 16

Taking what you say into account, the Acer Nitro 16 is a better laptop. It costs $100 more than the Acer Swift X 14 ($1,200 vs. $1,100) and is heavier because it’s a gaming laptop, but it has a lot of perks. You end up with a screen with a faster refresh rate and a current GPU from Nvidia that costs less.

The Acer Nitro 16 is a great game laptop that looks very simple. It has CPUs from the 13th generation of Intel’s H-series and graphics cards from the RTX 40-series. It also has a great cooling system and a keyboard that changes colors.

Even if you don’t play games, the Acer Swift X is still a good choice if you edit videos or photos. The OLED screen on this laptop can make the things you build look more real. It’s also easier to carry around and looks sleeker, like a lot of the best computers we’ve seen so far in 2023. Just be ready to pay more for the RTX 40-series GPUs and the OLED screen.
